Note To Future Mars Astronauts:Don't be too scared by this film.....or do. If you're a scifi fan you'll probably also enjoy it. Mars. Thats to get you in the mood and layout the land so to speak and gradually building you up to whats to come. Greetings from Lithuania. This "straight to DVD" flick is pretty damn good. Even so, they become part of the background and not the main focus of the story, still they made a good impression by adapting, in the sense they ultimately went for human blood, since it contained water. Also decision making in this film is done progressively, following certain steps and protocols and not skipping to the fastest and dumbest solution (like holding in the station till help arrives).I will give credit to this film (8 out of 10) for the effort it was done to make me be drawn in the action, cause I appreciate the little things, that most film in our days just don't even seem to care for. And what i also liked is planet Mars itself. For the genre it's targeting, I give it a 9. Prometheus was intellectually insulting. They're comparable to 2001: A Space Odyssey, Solaris, Gravity, etc.

The soundtrack is equally awesome, and adds to the film's tone. This is the first space film to be real in the way that they did not have lights "in" the spacesuits, as you would never want to have bright lights in your face when your are on an EVA in a very dark place. I thoroughly enjoyed this film. However, if you've an open mind, and enjoy watching films for the storytelling and overall quality, then you've got a winner with The Last Days On Mars. This film was clearly made in 2013, when everyone knows how Mars looks like - our mechanical explorers in red planet in couple recent years gave opportunity to see this planet. Other cast does a nice job (considering the time they spend on screen), especially Olivia Williams. A team of Mars workers who collect soil samples, are afflicted by a disease or virus, that affects them one by one! There is a little 'zombie like' thing going on. This film is dark and far, far away. Some are comparing it to Alien and Prometheus, but it was completely different. Great film.

I was completely so immersed, in the middle, I googled what the moon light from Phobos and Deimos (the moons of mars) might look like during nightime on Mars. Someone did his homework on how not to have too many flows in the script, but even so he made it a bit too transparent and obvious in this way.The soundtrack is what made me like the film and the small little details that were placed, with effort I might add, in the background of the story. Remember Jurassic Park when Jeff Goldblum said "life finds a way?" Let me say it's applicable to this. The story was excellent, but could of done with alittle bit more knowledge on the virus, what it was and why, where and how it got there. Just enuff creepy Kubrick 2001 style in addition to a excellent soundtrack/music that make this film elevate above the ordinary. Surprisingly enough I liked this film, even though I hate Liev Schreiber (third grade actor).

The sci-fi aspects of it were intelligent and believable. Thoroughly compelling and captivating! OK, so it's not quite as similar to Prometheus as the title suggests, but since I know people will be making obvious comparisons, I'll just leave it like that. Its survival instinct was to get water... The work that went into the visual effects was probably one of my favorite things about the film, and one of the main reasons I wanted to see it in the first place. My only real gripe is that they seemed to have the camera system installed by the same people the kitted out the ship in the first Alien film. Well that was a nice scifi/zombie surprise. But I warn you, it is predictable until the end, unless you like the action and stick to it. Liev Schreiber stars in unusual for him role, and he's good in this one. Planet does not look like a planet in "Red Planet" or "Total Recall" (for a reasons i mentioned previously) - "The Last Days on Mars" displays Mars like it is in in reality. So overall, if you are looking for some nice Sci-Fi / horror flick in unusual setting - "The Last Days on Mars" delivers, just don't expect much, and you won't be disappointed. amazingly.

Its survival instinct was to get water... Now, I'll leave you to it! Enjoy.. Greetings from Lithuania. This "straight to DVD" flick is pretty damn good. However, if you've an open mind, and enjoy watching films for the storytelling and overall quality, then you've got a winner with The Last Days On Mars. There are a few flaws here and there, but the acting was OK (a bit indifferent in most cases and with very small doses of emotion), but there were no illogical decisions made and that's how it should be if you are a scientist and know what you are dealing with and have an idea how to deal with, as well. Also I liked the idea that they didn't use stupid zombies and rather introduced us to a "parasite" that used the host's capabilities (intelligence and memories) to get it's needed resource (water). I give it 9 out of 10.Watch it - it's a gem. Thumbs far up Add another review. I thought this film was excellent but them I do like Sci-fi. If you liked his acting in "Ray Donovan" - you won't be disappointed. No over the top monsters or huge special effects, but an inspiring film that runs along very smoothly and grips your attention right until the end.The acting is very good, the story is original, and the scenery on Mars is breathtaking.Would I watch this film again? Absolutely. A quick reference to what appeared to be a cloud of dust when the ground opened up, at first I thought thats taking long time, for the dust to settle. Well thought out, the writers really spent their time thinking about this manned journey to mars and made it a human story, a survival story and a horror stor on a completely next level... And one day humans may take the trip. Just enuff creepy Kubrick 2001 style in addition to a excellent soundtrack/music that make this film elevate above the ordinary. Hence the barren arid planet. Mars. Clarke. I was completely so immersed, in the middle, I googled what the moon light from Phobos and Deimos (the moons of mars) might look like during nightime on Mars. ;) I thought the film was awesome. My only real gripe is that they seemed to have the camera system installed by the same people the kitted out the ship in the first Alien film. This film is dark and far, far away. This film tells it in a really terrific and sca manner. The plot, while it does take bits and pieces from many sci-fi classics, and reassembles them - it actually works, for it drives the plot along, slowly ratcheting up the impending doom feeling.

This is the first space film to be real in the way that they did not have lights "in" the spacesuits, as you would never want to have bright lights in your face when your are on an EVA in a very dark place. Maybe this virus had killed off everything living on the planet millennium ago. The acting was excellent but the actress Olivia Williams who played Kim Aldrich was annoying, bitching with her tantrum like behaviour. Seriously. The work that went into the visual effects was probably one of my favorite things about the film, and one of the main reasons I wanted to see it in the first place. I was completely so immersed, in the middle, I googled what the moon light from Phobos and Deimos (the moons of mars) might look like during nightime on Mars. If you're looking for something original, you might not find it here. And to set the record straight, it is nothing like the 'Alien' films, it is very original and thought provoking. amazingly. In the future we do know now for sure that there will be plenty of cameras.

However, if you've an open mind, and enjoy watching films for the storytelling and overall quality, then you've got a winner with The Last Days On Mars. The acting is superb, the storyline is excellent, even though it's already been done before (see Prometheus, Mission To Mars, etc), and oh my gosh, the visuals are STUNNING. And one day humans may take the trip. My only real gripe is that they seemed to have the camera system installed by the same people the kitted out the ship in the first Alien film. It was a believable zombie flick without using the word "zombie." The action wasn't as extravagant because they were a smaller group of people on Mars, but it was dark and suspenseful.

Absolutely. Acting was good. The work that went into the visual effects was probably one of my favorite things about the film, and one of the main reasons I wanted to see it in the first place. And then my favorite actor Liev Schreiber is in it; as a head actress! He does a excellent job! Any way: You like Sci-Fi films; like I do?! You must see this one!Because it IS a 'must see' film, in that category. Thoroughly compelling and captivating! OK, so it's not quite as similar to Prometheus as the title suggests, but since I know people will be making obvious comparisons, I'll just leave it like that. And to set the record straight, it is nothing like the 'Alien' films, it is very original and thought provoking. Last Days of Mars' post effects were top notch (i read cinefex, so I should know) and like I said, had me immersed in the reflected night illumination of a foreign moon(s) and awakening in the light of a distant dawn of our sun and it's so familiar spectrum. Hence the barren arid planet. This film tells it in a really terrific and sca manner.
